What A Beautiful Trauma, P!nk

Hello, People!!!

I wasn’t sure about whom to write about first but as Miss Fucking Perfect is a long time known of this person of mine, I’ll write about the Queen Bassey in a future post, which means today is P!NK day!!! Although it is my daughter’s favorite, no, I am not talking about the color.

Alecia Beth Moore (born 8 September 1979) better know as P!nk, started as a member of a group called Choice; she debuted in 2000 with her album Can’t Take Me Home and it was certified double platinum in the US and spawned two Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single.

Her second album Missundaztood (2001) became her best-selling record (13 million copies sold worldwide) and produced three top-ten singles in the US – Get the Party Started, Don’t Let Me Get Me and Just Like a Pill.

Her third album Try This (2003) didn’t repeat the success of her second album but she won the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. With her fourth album I’m Not Dead (2006) she revived her popularity.

Funhouse (2008), her fifth studio album became her third multi platinum album in the US and she closed the first decade of her career with the compilation album Greatest Hits… So Far!!! (2010).

Her sixth album The Truth About Love (2012) became her first number one album on the Billboard 200. The album was on my playlist for weeks and my 4 years old daughter loves Just Give Me a Reason (which is P!nk’s fourth number one single).

It took her a while to release her seventh studio album and in the long break between the last album and the new one she was working on collabs with many talented artists, writing and singing, and in 2014 she recorded a collaborative album with the Canadian musician Dallas Green, in a duo named You+Me.

Finally, this last October, Beautiful Trauma was released, having the lead single What About Us reaching number one in Australia.

The critical reception can be resumed as “Good but that is it!” and the album had a rate of average. It had a great commercial reception and it became her second to top the chart after The Truth About Love.

Beautiful Trauma for me is one of the best of P!nk’s albums – she wrote all of the songs on it – and I love it so much I’m totally turn between which one is best: 2017 or 2012. I can’t point any song that I didn’t like and to say I have one favorite is difficult but I’d say Beautiful Trauma is taking the top, followed really close by For Now and the rest of the album comes to close the deal.

“I wanna know where does love go to die; is it some sad empty castle in the sky?” (But We Lost It)
“There’s not enough rope to tie me down, there’s not enough tape to shut this mouth. The stones you throw can make me bleed, but I won’t stop until we’re free, wild hearts can be broken” (Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken)

For me, her voice is amazing and she is amazing herself so, if you haven’t listen to her new CD yet – or to any of her previous work for that matter – you should definitely start with this new album.
